Owners Nick and Lindsey Baker got their first whiff of the floral industry by doing their own wedding flowers in 2008. It wasn't long after being married that the trappings of their corporate jobs began to take a toll on them. They wanted to do something that was better suited for their artistic backgrounds and satisfied their need to create. While they were brainstorming ideas of ways to accomplish those goals, a blessing in disguise came when Nick unexpectedly lost his job. As if by fate, the same day that Nick lost his job he received a message from a recently made friend who'd heard about his situation and wanted to know if he'd like to work at her flower shop as a delivery driver while he looked for other employment. Little by little the idea began to take shape. Every day he had the opportunity to learn from a couple that had been in the industry for over 25 years. Before long, the temporary job turned into a business model for the future. After 2 years of being under their tutelage, the owners of the company had made the decision to retire. Knowing Nick and Lindsey had an interest in getting into the business they graciously offered their services to help get them on their feet. Nick and Lindsey spent the next year developing a business model and honing their skills while working out of small residential space doing wedding work, holiday centerpieces, and special events with the help of their mentors. The orders kept coming and their small workspace just kept getting smaller. They knew it was time to take the next step. In February of 2012 they opened Flowers from the Rafters in the small village of Morrow Ohio. After 4 years and many happy customers later, the decision was made to move the business to historic Lebanon Ohio in April of 2016. Nick and Lindsey continue to cultivate their passion by providing the greater Cincinnati area with works of art that are uniquely their own made from the finest flowers sustainably sourced from local farms and farms from around the world.
